Barcelona Young Star Yamal Inspires Win
Yamal’s electrifying performance lit up the field as Barcelona secured a thrilling victory against Sevilla
Sergio Ramos Own Goal Secures Three Points for Xavi’s Barcelona in La Liga
In a thrilling La Liga encounter at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, Barcelona’s rising star Lamine Yamal stole the show with an outstanding performance, ultimately securing a hard-fought victory for Barcelona’s side. The match ended with a Sergio Ramos own goal, handing Barcelona a 1-0 win over Sevilla and propelling them back to the top of the table.
Young Talent Makes His Mark
Lamine Yamal, just 16 years old, made headlines seven years after stepping onto Camp Nou as Ramos‘ mascot before El Clasico in 2016. Despite a resilient Sevilla defense, Yamal’s determination paid off when his headed cross resulted in an unfortunate own goal by Sergio Ramos, sealing the victory for Barcelona.
Sevilla’s Unbeaten Streak Comes to an End
This win ended Sevilla’s four-match unbeaten run, while Barcelona remains one of only two Spanish teams, alongside Girona, that have stayed unbeaten this season.
Moments of Brilliance and Missed Opportunities
The first half saw exciting moments, with Joao Felix hitting the crossbar following a moment of brilliance from Joao Cancelo. Raphinha’s injury forced his replacement, Fermin Lopez, into action, but he missed a golden opportunity to score shortly after coming on.
Persistence Pays Off
Barcelona took a more direct approach in the second half as they tried to break down a stubborn Sevilla defense. Robert Lewandowski had the chance to put the hosts ahead, but his close-range effort was saved by the legs of Orjan Nyland. That was the closest they had come until Ramos, of all players, turned the ball into his own net to give Barcelona the lead with ten minutes on the clock.
From Mascot to Game-Changer
It was only in 2016 when a then-nine-year-old Barcelona mascot Lamine Yamal held the hand of Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos as the teams walked out of the Camp Nou tunnel. Little did Ramos know, seven years later the same boy – now 16 – would cause him to turn the ball into his own net to gift Barcelona the lead over his beloved Sevilla. Yamal was a shining star on the right wing throughout the game and his persistence eventually paid off at the expense of the legendary Spanish defender.
The Player of the Match – Joao Cancelo
Every defender enjoys keeping a clean sheet, which Joao Cancelo expertly managed against Sevilla on Friday. However, the modern full-back did so much more than defend. He produced the best moment of the game when he skillfully skipped past three Sevilla players – including Sergio Ramos – and put the ball on a plate for Joao Felix. If it wasn’t for the crossbar, Cancelo would have already had the assist of the season sewn up. Cancelo was dominant down the right-hand flank, consistently creating the most chances (4), completing the most dribbles (4), making the most tackles (4), and winning the most duals (9) of anyone on the pitch. A stellar performance.
Barcelona haven’t lost any of their last 16 matches against Sevilla in La Liga (W12 D4) since a 1-2 defeat in October 2015, maintaining a clean sheet in the last four. The last time the Azulgrana side went four straight games without conceding against Sevilla in the competition was in January 1987.

AC Milan vs Frosinone Prediction
AC Milan are currently 3rd in the league, and have won only one of their last five league games. They find themselves six points behind league leaders Inter Milan. It has been a season of inconsistency for the club, with their current form not doing manager Stefano Pioli any favours. The 37-year old Olivier Giroud continues to lead the line admirably, and has proven to be a surprisingly dependable goalkeeping option if needed as well. However, Giroud is at an age where dependency on him should be lessening, but in AC Milan’s case, it seems to have increased this season.
Frosinone, on the other hand, are 10th in the league, and have won two of their last five league games. Argentine winger Matias Soule has proven to be one of the best young players in the league so far, and parent club Juventus will be keeping a keen eye on his development. It has been suggested that Juventus could recall the 20-year old after an excellent start to his league campaign.
AC Milan need to get back to winning ways, and should emerge victorious here.
Prediction: AC Milan 2-0 Frosinone
